The Association of Credit Rating Agencies in Asia (ACRAA), founded on September 14, 2001, organized a one-day Summit on September 12, 2024, in Beijing, China. This Summit organized on the central theme of “Reinventing CRAs in a Changing World of Advanced Technology and Disruptive Global Development,” brought together expert credit raters and regulators from China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, the Philippines, and the Russian Federation.
Shri Suraj Pratap Malik, Director on the Board of Infomerics Rating Pvt Ltd, participated in the event, which addressed several key issues within a cross-country framework. Wide-ranging topics discussed and deliberated there included climate-related risks, geopolitical rivalries, dynamic political and economic uncertainties, the rise of artificial intelligence (AI), and the relevance of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors. The Summit also explored how credit rating agencies (CRAs) can adapt to these challenges while maintaining credibility and relevance in an increasingly interconnected and volatile global economy. Collaboration, innovation, and the need for bilateral & multilateral cooperation among Asian CRAs with other global CRAs were emphasized for navigating these emerging complexities.
ACRAA is driven by the vision to establish itself as a leading regional institution in Asia, upholding the highest standards of credit rating practices. It aims to establish a collaborative framework for a strong investment information infrastructure that promotes both local and regional investment flows, with a particular focus on the Asian bond market.
